Hello again,
Last year I was searching the Internet for information about Choro when I discovered the use of the Ophicleide in that music as late as 1930. Since this is an obsolete instrument in most of the world (except for "Antique Instrument" performances ) I was wondering if there are any currant Brazilian players who are still using this instrument. I have found some old sound files of early Choro bands from the 1900s but only a few with obvious Ophicleide solos.
This article I found might interest some of you Choro fans: http://www.rafaelvel.../pesquisa2.html I have had some problems with translations but I get the general idea of it. I have not been able to contact the author for further details...

Not quite a Sax - Ophicleide!
